Cold brew

You'll need

  • Jar or carafe
  • Fine sieve or filter
  • Scale
  • Fridge

Step by step

  1. 1Add 100g of coarse coffee to a large jar.
  2. 2Pour 800g of cold water, stir to wet all the grounds, and put the lid on.
  3. 3Steep in the fridge for 14–18 hours.
  4. 4Strain through a fine sieve, then again through a paper filter for a cleaner cup.
  5. 5Serve over ice, neat or cut 1:1 with water or milk. Keeps a week in the fridge.

If it tastes off

Too intense

Dilute to taste — cold brew is a concentrate.

Cloudy or silty

Filter a second time through paper.

Flat and dull

Steep a few hours longer or use a fresher bag.
