French press
Full-bodied and hands-off. Pour, wait, press — no filters, no fuss, big flavour.

- 30g coffee

- Coarse (like sea salt)

You'll need
- French press

Step by step
- 1Add 30g of coarse coffee to the press.
- 2Pour 500g of water, give it one stir, and start the timer.
- 3Steep for 4 minutes with the lid on but the plunger up.
- 4Skim the crust of grounds off the top with a spoon.
- 5Press slowly and pour straight away so it doesn't over-steep.
If it tastes off
Gritty in the cup
Grind coarser and skim the crust before pressing.
Bitter and heavy
Shorten the steep or pour it off the grounds sooner.
Flat and weak
Use a touch more coffee or steep 30 seconds longer.
